Design and manufacture of heat pipes on the bases of metal-fibre capillary structures with improved thermo-physical characteristics for temperature control systems of the prospective space vehicles

Objective

The project proposed is concerned with the development and manufacture of new high quality arterial grooved heat pipes (HP) for thermal stabilization of electronic devices operating under conditions of limited in-satellite space. The main task of the project is to develop new composite fiber-powder capillary structures (CS), the methods and novel technology for preparation of precision porous structures, namely layered, gradient and heteroporous with the aim to improve their performance. Further, to study hydrodynamic physical and mechanical properties of HP with different porous structure, to determine their thermohydraulic characteristics, namely coefficient of thermal resistance, thermal flux transferred and dynamics at start-up and finally to optimize the ratio of fiber -to- powder components of the porous structure. Novel technology, the results of tests and simulation will allow to propose and manufacture the HPs for operation under conditions of microgravitation.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
