Sustainable community through the production of 30000Tm/year of bio-diesel starting from sunflower, rapeseed and palm biomass

Objectif

The objective of the project is to demonstrate and widely disseminate the benefits of changing the agrarian practices of the Navarra community from cereal food crops to oleaginous energy crops in order to approach a sustainable community in diesel consumption, through the local production of biodiesel at a big scale. This is a RES-based innovative approach, as it will integrate the whole chain of actors involved in biofuel production (farmers, technology developer, biofuel producer and end users) of the community, in order to shift to a more sustainable energy supply.

The specific objectives of the project are:
- To produce 30000 Tm/year of sunflower, rape and palm biodiesel, (9,4% of the community consumption)
- To limit investment costs to 555 euro/Tm in a new biodiesel plant
- To limit annual costs of the plant to 594 euro/Tm (including raw material costs and operation & Maintenance)
- To avoid annual emissions of 61.000Tm of CO2, 70Tm of CO and 90Tm of SO2
