Housing for families on low incomes

Objective

Impoverishment is a growing phenomenon in all the industrialised countries. In France, for example, 40% of people newly housed in social housing in 1997 were RMI beneficiaries (minimum insertion income). Furthermore in France, 1.5 million people have problem in finding long-term housing at prices within their low income. This problem is encountered in all the European countries.

The aim of the project is to propose long-term solutions which will allow this population to have access to proper housing, at an acceptable investment cost (for the community) and running cost (for the inhabitant). The aim for running cost will be achieved by increasing energy savings and decreasing the electricity consumption. This housing should meet the needs of the populations concerned, and help their social integration.
