Improvement of automotive tools and components through the applications of deep cryogenic treatments

Objective

The main aim is to develop and apply deep cryogenic treatments (DCT) in order to improve wear resistance and fatigue life of:
- automotive components, that may lead to weigth reduction;
- metalforming tooling and machining tools, that may lead to increase the tools life.

We will pay special attention to the microstructural changes and the fatigue behaviour improvement that takes place as a function of the cryogenic treatment route. The project will provide a better understanding of the parameters influencing the DCT and will analyse how to integrate it within the industrial production line.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
