Research Infrastructures and their structural dimension within the European Research Area

Objective

"Continuing the reflexion work started in May 2007, based on the CREST recommendations on ""how to make better coordinated use of Structural Funds and Framework Programme to support R&D?"", and the recent launch of the EC communication on ""competitive European regions through research and innovation"", the main objectives of the conference are to clarify the challenges and opportunities at the regional, national, or inter-regional levels which could be related with the development of research infrastructures of pan-European character (including the e-infrastructure), to highlight the contribution to the Lisbon objectives offered by such facilities (e.g. impacts on industry, sustainable development, employment) and to review these recommendations to improve the financial engineering of research infrastructures for their construction and sustainable operation."
