57FE MOESSBAUER SPECTROSCOPY OF FE II, III-ANTITUMOR DRUG-NUCLEIC ACID SYSTEMS: THE FE ENVIRONMENT IN THE PROCESS OF NUCLEIC ACID SCISSION

Objective

The nature of the bonding environment and electronic state of Fe Atoms in the process of DNA strand scissioning by systems antibiotic Fe II, III would be investigated by 57 Fe Mossbaueur spectroscopy. The structure of complexes Fe-drug (-adriamycin,-bleomycin, et al.) as well as of model compounds and systems (such as Fe II,III complexes with nucleir acid constituents), would be also studied, preferably in solution phase, in order to possibly better understand and discuss the role of the metal in the scissioning.
