Objective
THE APPLICATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF NOVEL TECHNIQUES OF LANDSCAPE ARCHAEOLOGY IN SOUTHERN ETRURIA (CENTRAL ITALY). The objectives of this research project are the development and testing of new techniques of archaeological surveys (G.I.S.; LiDAR; G.P.R.) in some key-contexts of Southern Etruria (central Italy) to get new data on landscape archaeology and new tools for preservation of monuments and archaeological artefacts. The two key contexts are: the Etruscan city of Civita di Grotte di Castro and the territory of the ager faliscus between Falerii and Nepi. Both contexts were settled from the Bronze Age onwards and show dense archaeological evidence from the Prehistoric, Etruscan, Roman and Medieval phases, and it offers excellent opportunities for landscape analysis. Both areas are characterised by different land uses (forest, arable lands) which enables the use of different methodologies of survey and non-destructive analysis.
