Objective The fundamental objective of this Round Table exercise is to respond substantially to the need for genuine engagement and involvement of all the key stakeholders (public and private) in the nanomedical field in preparing the groundwork for optimised and collective decision-making at the European level. Although very promising, nanomedicine may add new dimensions to many ethical, social and economic issues. It is of primary importance to understand its possible impacts and provide for stakeholders a well-organised forum. The Round Table will bring together representatives from the nanomedical sciences and technologies involved, industry, patient groups, regulatory bodies, health insurance and policy making, and experts on the ethical, regulatory, social, economic and public engagement and communication and issues. The goal will be to: - collect the most relevant information to be discussed of: - actual achievements and, separately, promises of nanomedical innovation - recommendations issued by the European Commission, Member States and exercises carried out by various national and international bodies - present these in a “user-friendly” format appropriate for each of the main stakeholder groups with questions to be discussed - carry out a consensual debate concluding with agreed recommendations between various positions The Round Table will have important impacts by: - establishing a clear set of recommendations to support decision making at the European level - identifying priority areas for research and development and for societal actions - significantly enhancing the flow of knowledge reciprocally between each of the key stakeholder groups along the chain from research to patient - helping to reduce fragmentation in nanomedical research across Europe - contributing to mobilising additional public and private investment in nanomedical R&D in Europe - and overall thereby stimulating innovation in nanobiotechnologies for medical use Fields of science medical and health sciencesmedical biotechnologynanomedicine Keywords Nanomedicine communication economic impact ethics regulation Programme(s) FP7-NMP - Specific Programme "Cooperation": Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies, Materials and new Production Technologies Topic(s) NMP-2007-1.2-2 - Analysis of the ethical, regulatory, social and economic environment of nanomedicine Call for proposal FP7-NMP-2007-CSA-1 See other projects for this call Funding Scheme CSA-SA - Support actions Coordinator TECHNISCHE UNIVERSITEIT DELFT EU contribution € 266 407,00 Address STEVINWEG 1 2628 CN Delft Netherlands See on map Region West-Nederland Zuid-Holland Delft en Westland Activity type Higher or Secondary Education Establishments Administrative Contact Rogier Van Loghem (Mr.) Links Contact the organisation Opens in new window Website Opens in new window Total cost No data Participants (9) Sort alphabetically Sort by EU Contribution Expand all Collapse all GENETIC ALLIANCE UK LTD United Kingdom EU contribution € 59 064,00 Address UNIT 4D LEROY HOUSE , ESSEX ROAD 436 N1 3QP LONDON See on map Region London Inner London — East Haringey and Islington Activity type Other Administrative Contact Alastair Kent (Mr.) Links Contact the organisation Opens in new window Website Opens in new window Total cost No data TECHNISCHE UNIVERSITAT DARMSTADT Germany EU contribution € 60 472,00 Address KAROLINENPLATZ 5 64289 Darmstadt See on map Region Hessen Darmstadt Darmstadt, Kreisfreie Stadt Activity type Higher or Secondary Education Establishments Administrative Contact Jutta Braun (Ms.) Links Contact the organisation Opens in new window Website Opens in new window Total cost No data COMMISSARIAT A L ENERGIE ATOMIQUE ET AUX ENERGIES ALTERNATIVES France EU contribution € 59 780,00 Address RUE LEBLANC 25 75015 PARIS 15 See on map Region Ile-de-France Ile-de-France Paris Activity type Research Organisations Administrative Contact Frederique Frionnet (Ms.) Links Contact the organisation Opens in new window Website Opens in new window Total cost No data DEUTSCHES MUSEUM VON MEISTERWERKEN DER NATURWISSENSCHAFT UND TECHNIK Germany EU contribution € 59 513,00 Address MUSEUMSINSEL 1 80538 MUNCHEN See on map Region Bayern Oberbayern München, Kreisfreie Stadt Activity type Research Organisations Administrative Contact Wolfgang M.
