European women in mathematics project

Objectif

Women are significantly underrepresented in mathematical research in all European countries. A wider presence of women is necessary, because of the prominent role of mathematics within society, and not to exploit the abilities of a large section of the population is a tragic waste of resources. The objective of this proposal is to enhance the potential of women mathematicians, to participate in academic research at all levels. It is proposed to meet this objective via conferences for women mathematicians and setting up a web-based mentoring scheme to enable mentors and mentees to form connections. The expected benefits of this proposal are an increase in participation of women in mathematical research in Europe and further development of cooperation between EU and other countries to promote women in science.
