Objective
The aim of the NBIPI Career Enhancement and Mobility Programme (CEMP) is to support experienced fellows at various stages of their career in attaining and strengthening their career prospects to become independent investigators or senior scientists in education or industry. Within the remit of the National Biophotonics Imaging Platform Ireland (NBIPI), the CEMP will fund and support research fellows wishing to undertake interdisciplinary research and training programmes in biophotonics and imaging. The CEMP will offer a combination of incoming and outgoing fellowships. The fellowship duration will range from 6-24 months and outgoing fellowships will include a mandatory reintegration phase. A 24 month incoming fellowship can include a re-integration phase of max 12 months in the Institution of origin. Training activities will include not only training-through-research under supervision by means of an individual personalized project but also in the following skill areas: • Hands-on training activities for developing scientific and complementary skills (to include proposal preparation for grant funding, patent applications, project management, tasks coordination, technical staff supervision) • Management of the transfer of knowledge and intellectual property • Capacity to build collaborations • Scientific and financial management of the research project The programme will also address the training requirement in team leadership and management. The NBIPI context of the proposed fellowship programme will offer research fellows the opportunity to carry out the research project of their choice in state of the art research facilities and to enhance their scientific and technical skills through a broad selection of training modules.
