Objective
The objectives of this project are to:
- specify tests for the interoperability and validation of home and building systems products intended to conform with the specifications issued by the projects HOME (2431) and IIH (5448)
- demonstrate home systems in a validation house
- address the question of training installers. Detailed aims include the development of test tools on the basis of agreed functionalities and interoperability rules, and their testing in relation to user requirements.
The work will be carried out in three task areas. Task A will define agreed functionalities and interoperability rules, write a test methodology and develop test case specifications, and design, develop, and validate test tools. Simultaneously, under Task B, the demonstration house will be equipped with domestic goods and components ready for the full-scale validation to follow. Task C will cover the preparation of a training programme for installers and proposals for commissioning and trouble-shooting tools, and also organise an information day to publicise the project.
The main results of HS-FVI will be a set of test tools for product validation and inter-operability, a validation house where companies can use these tools to test their own products, and a training programme for installers. The existence and potential of the validation house will be made known to manufacturers, and it will be made available to them in order to test products prior to their release.
