Bio-active metabolites from bacteria symbiont and/or associated with marine sponges

Objetivo

Marine bacteria are of considerable current interest as a new and promising source of biologically active compound. Because of the specific requirements of marine bacteria to cultural media only few classes which grow tinder standard conditions are biologically and chemically studied. The marine sponges which live in symbiosis with many bacteria and are typical filter- feeding organisms are considered very suitable for isolation of diverse marine bacteria.

The presence of bacteria in marine sponges give rise to the question for the original producer of marine sponges bio-active metabolites and have significant practical importance because of easier cultivation of bacteria compared to their hosts.
