Quantum Field Theory and Cosmology

Objective

Dr. Kahya will undertake research in Quantum Field Theory and Cosmology. He will investigate four research topics in the project. Topic I: Quantum Corrected Field Equations of Conformally Coupled Scalars He aims to solve the quantum corrected linearized effective field equations of conformally coupled scalars during Inflation. Topic II: Is the Standard Model Higgs really the Inflaton? He is going to investigate the quantum effects during Inflation on Higgs particle and check whether it can be the Inflaton particle. Topic III: Stochastic Formulation of Massless Minimally Coupled (MMC) Scalars during Inflation He aims to extend Starobisky's nonperturbative resummation technique to MMC scalars coupled to gravity and to explore the consequences for late time cosmology. Topic IV: A guide for GW detectors to test the Modified Gravity Models He proposes to produce a rough graph of the time lag of gravitational waves vs. photons/neutrinos as a function of position in the Milky Way-Andromeda neighborhood which could serve as a guide for observers. It is going to be done in the context of models where gravity is modified to do away with dark matter.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
