Exploring a Future Internet suited to a probable paradigm shift in global societal developments

Description du projet

Future Internet Experimental Facility and Experimentally-driven Research

The project has the ambition to amend a paradoxical situation: to a large extent, the Internet of the future is explored today without investigating how our societies might or should evolve in the future...
PARADISO2, building on the successful achievements of the PARADISO FIRE project selected at FP7 Call 1, aims at exploring a Future Internet suited to a probable paradigm shift in global societal developments, characterized by substantially revised economic, environmental and social objectives in order to avoid major risks of breakdown.
This envisioned Future Internet will be fully analyzed and specified, and presented in the "PARADISO reference document" that will also include precise recommendations for the preparation of FP8. The specification will allow being ready to validate the approach through the FIRE experimental facility
The PARADISO2 partnership is the same one who successfully developed PARADISO activities and is constituted by two complementary and fully committed organisations: the Club of Rome and Sigma Orionis. Beyond this formal partnership quite a unique high-level international expert panel will be actively involved in the exploration of the envisioned Future Internet.
The project aims at contributing putting Europe at the forefront of Future Internet developments, involving the greatest number of stakeholders (including the PARADISO worldwide community) and having the highest impact. To reach these objectives, two open project events will be organised (a PARADISO scientific workshop and the 2nd PARADISO conference), the PARADISO web site will be further enhanced with Web 2.0 and push technologies, and substantial dissemination activities will be undertaken.
The sustainability of the momentum created by PARADISO beyond the formal project period will be investigated early in the project lifetime, so that a "PARADISO think and action tank" can continue its activities, after the end of the project.
