Objective
Everyday we are flooded with scientific terms: in the media, at the supermarket, at the pub with our friends. But who makes this science? And how is it done? How is a scientists’ everyday life? Who better to set things straight than scientists themselves?
Using amusing but accurate real life stories, this proposal aims for the production of a television show, to be broadcast on the 23rd of September 2011 in a national television channel. The TV show will include scientific stand-up comedy, previously recorded street interviews with the general public on scientific subjects, a section specially dedicated to the International Year of Chemistry, true reports of real scientists' everyday life, and a award-giving ceremony to an outstanding young Portuguese scientist.
The proposal also includes build-up activities, starting in April 2011 and going up to the Researchers' Night. These activities will be developed in the national Ciência Viva Science Centers Network, spread throughout the country, drawing the public's attention to the main event. On the night of September 23rd, these Science Centers will also develop local activities, in coordination with the televised event.
