Project description
Empowering culture and science for sustainable cities
In 2023, one of the issues to be addressed by the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union is how cultural and creative industries (CCI) can enhance our quality of life through culture and science. In this context, the EU-funded CULT-IN project will support the organisation of the 'Cultural and Creative Industries, Cities and Citizens Fostering Sustainable Development and the European Way of Living' conference, aiming to bridge the gap between culture and science. Held from 11 to 13 July 2023 in Barcelona, the event will showcase collaborative, innovative, and sustainable CCI projects that are accessible, affordable, socially committed, and enriching for all. Furthermore, it will explore how these industries can act as social and innovative catalysts, aligned with the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative.
Objective
The Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union will held during the second semester of 2023 a European Conference entitled ‘Cultural and creative industries, cities and citizens fostering sustainable development and the European way of living’. The objective is to reflect how the Cultural and Creatives Industries (CCIs) collaborate and contribute to improve people's quality of life by creating solutions through Culture and Science,
The event will pretend to be an international meeting point between Culture and Science by displaying, in a demonstrative, interactive and participatory way, CCIs’ European and collaborative projects and initiatives that are not only innovative and sustainable, but also accessible, affordable, socially committed and enriching for all in line with the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative. In this way, the event will be able to reflect how cultural and creative industries can collaborate as social and innovative drivers through a collaborative network.
The Conference will be organized held on 11, 12 and 13 July 2023 in Barcelona by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), in partnership with the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Sports.
