Project description
Enhancing intellectual asset management in research
Efforts to standardise intellectual asset (IA) practices in PROs and academic institutions reveal a gap in early-stage support, which is essential for fostering research spin-offs. The EU-funded IAM4RE.eu project aims to bridge this gap by advancing IA management and aligning with key EU guidelines. It will shift traditional Intellectual Property (IP) management towards a broader framework focused on value creation. The project will develop modular educational resources, including training suites, a massive open online course (MOOC), and a train-the-trainer programme to boost knowledge valorisation and standardisation skills across Europe. Practical tools and policy guidelines will also be created for decision-makers in PROs.
Objective
"The IAM4RE.eu project seeks to redefine entrepreneurship by emphasizing the valorization of intellectual assets (IA) and standardisation in PROs and academic institutions. Despite existing efforts, there remains a significant gap in early-stage support for managing these assets, essential for creating and strengthening spin-offs from research activities. The project aims to support PROs and their spin-offs in aligning their entrepreneurial efforts with key EU guidelines and Codes of Practice.
IAM4RE.eu facilitates a transition from IP management to a broader IA management framework, moving beyond simple commercialization to focus on value creation that can benefit the broader innovation ecosystem. The initiative will focus on capacity-building and the development of modular educational resources, including training suites, a massive open online course (MOOC), and a ""train-the-trainer"" program, aimed at enhancing skills in knowledge valorization and standardization across Europe.
The project will also create and support the delivery of practical tools and services to help PROs and AcIs implement these practices effectively and will produce Policy Guidelines for PROs decision-makers supporting the transition towards more effective internal IAM. All contents will be tested through real-world application in selected PROs to ensure their effectiveness, with the ultimate goal of scaling these practices across Europe.
The consortium, comprising leading EU organizations in entrepreneurship, IAM, and standardization, will leverage their collective expertise to design and deliver educational content, services, and policy guidelines.
The IAM4RE.eu project emphasizes long-term sustainability, with strategies in place for the dissemination of its outputs, direct exploitation of KERs, including establishing a community of practice to ensure ongoing impact.
