Cooperative Mobile Network Optimization

Objective

This proposal targets some crucial challenges of LTE, the next generation mobile communication system beyond 3G. From the strict technological point of view, the proposal promises to develop novel methods for the problems of optimal radio resource allocation and intra/inter-system handover. To achieve this goal the idea is to introduce cooperativity into the control mechanisms, i.e. the aim is to propose distributed algorithms involving various elements of the network (i.e. both the mobile nodes and the different components of the access network) into the decision making. Using this approach the users are directly involved into the control processes of the network, which raises important privacy and security issues. These questions will also be investigated. In order to evaluate the proposed solution, an efficient and accurate system level LTE simulator will be developed as an extension of the simulator that has been developed at the host - CWiND.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: https://op.europa.eu/en/web/eu-vocabularies/euroscivoc.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
