RESEARCHERS' NIGHT AND SCIENCE IN THE STREETS

Objective

The RENASIS 2010 Researchers’ Night will take place in Ankara on the 24th September 2010, and aims at enhancing public recognition of researchers and their work through ibringing them closer to the public at large, regardless of age and scientific background, in a relaxed and entertaining atmosphere.
In such a purpose, a broad and varied programme of activities will be offered to the audience at Altınpark Recreation Facilities, the biggest recreation area in Ankara, on the theme “science in the streets”.
Message that “researchers and science are everywhere around us” will be displayed all night long. The activities will actively involve researchers and address all categories of the public at large, a special attention being paid to young people.
The festivities during the night will be starting at the evening to last till the first lights of the dawn with an expected participation of 3.000 people. An intensive awareness campaign will be undertaken throughout the country, in cooperation with schools, universities, and the media as well as civil society organisations, researchers, private and public corporations, and other stakeholders in science. It will also rely on radio and TV, without forgetting on line media likely to reach young people. Activities will notably include:
-Hands on experiments and demonstrations conducted by researches;
-Interactive games and competitions;
-Exhibitions;
-European corners, researchers' corner, careers 'corner;
-Party with researchers...
Support from local municipalities is also planned.
