NIGHT OF BEST EXPLORATION LOVERS- Olsztyn Researchers' Night 2011

Objective

"The aim of the project is to popularize science, researchers and scientific career through educational, information and artistic activities. The number of direct participants of events is estimated at 40 000 people from Olsztyn, Warmia and Mazury, Poland and Europe.
Introducing local scientists organizers will concentrate mainly on Nobel Prize recipients and branches of science they dealt with (Emil von Behring, Wilhelm Wien). Hence the acronym Nobel Night. On the occasion of 2011 being the year of Maria Curie-Sklodowska there will also be activities connected with this Nobel Prize recipient and her discoveries.
During the Researchers Night there will be, among others: lectures and experiments guided by scientists, astronomical shows , demos and observations at the Planetarium, exhibitions (notably live spiders), workshops, specific workshops for children, direct marketing, educational exhibitions, game show based on the concept of ‘Fifteen to One”, Optics and Acoustics – mapping, concert, exhibitions and quizzes. European issues will be present in all project competitions, including ‘One of ten’ game show and three European corners.
The organizers intend to show researchers from the region, as a part of European science. It will enable building European awareness of Warmia and Mazury inhabitants, which is particularly important during the Polish presidency in EU in 2011.
Some events (i.e. concert, shows, mapping) aim at attracting the broadest audience possible. Diversified awareness campaign will be monitored all the time in order to reach most people (through cooperation with various media and partners, competitions with prizes, promotional activities, Internet).
These activities will be intensified during Science and Art Days in Olsztyn (21-23 September).The highlight of the whole project will take place during Researchers Night on 23 September in 5 locations in Olsztyn. It will be broadcast via Internet and the material will be available online after the end of the project.
The project has been prepared and will be conducted by 15 partners co-ordinated by University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn."
