Combining spatial and traffic eContent for regions of Europe

Objective

Over the last decade, the use of combined geographic and traffic digital content has gained an ever-increasing importance. Given the improvement of available IT solutions and Internet applications, geographic data and traffic data represent a critical factor for the success of complex Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) applications. The use of traffic information maps is, for example, indispensable for the operation of Traffic Management Systems distributing geo-referenced traffic information to users.

Since existing maps do not include traffic relevant attributes, COSTE addressed this gap and investigated, defined and evaluated the feasibility of technical infrastructure and the associated operational models to support efficient production, distribution and the use of traffic engineering maps. The above issues are virtually common in all European countries and their impact on traffic and transport engineering and land use have a truly European dimension.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
