Objective
Problems for digital content (DC) business in Accession Countries (AC) include: underdeveloped (inter) national co-operation, public-private partnerships, and little acknowledgement of the importance of DC. In the framework of the SPREAD project, four associations representing DC in West and East, specialised trainers, incubator, consultants and communicators joined together in order to enforce the exchange of good practice on internationalisation, multilingualism, localisation, cross-cultural information and re-use of public information to three pilot ACs (Hungary, Poland and Slovenia), to be further extended to three additional ACs, by spreading:
In this context the ERDDS project aims at:
- Good practice on trans-national expansion strategies in the DC industry, resulting from the eContent funded ETTEC project. A total of 80 concrete showcases with related good practice were presented through a Web-based support structure, forming part of the international EMMA showcases network (EU, AC, US);
- Successful business models and re-use of public sector information (at least 10 success stories);
- Pro-active dissemination and take-up of good practice through dedicated services, training, Eastern events and project development (10 examples of East-West collaboration).
