Support for the Intergovernmental panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to facilitate the preparation of its Sixth Assessment Report (AR6)

Project description

A boost for scientific assessment of climate change

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is a United Nations body created in 1988 by the World Meteorological Organization and the United Nations Environment Programme. Its role is to provide policymakers with regular scientific assessments and reports on climate change. The EU-funded AR6 project will support the preparation of the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report. The aim is to increase the participation of experts from developing countries and economies transitioning to the IPCC process. Support will also be provided to highlight the IPCC products globally.

Objective

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the key global climate science-policy interface, underpinning international climate change policy-making and is the leading global body responsible for the scientific assessment of climate change. In preparation of the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (AR6), support will be provided to increase the participation of experts from developing countries and economies in transition, should their governments not be in a position to provide appropriate funding, to the IPCC process. Support will also be provided to enhance the visibility of the IPCC products globally.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: https://op.europa.eu/en/web/eu-vocabularies/euroscivoc.
