COST 318 Action is investigating in a systematic way the mutual influence of the two forms of high-speed transport: rail traffic (200-350 km/h) and air traffic (500-1000 km/h). The action started in March 1994 and was intended to last up to September 1997. Representatives from nine countries, namely Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovenia and Spain were participating in this research. The overall coordination is ensured by a management committee and supported by the European Commission.
