European Master of Science Course in Radiation Biology. FI6R-CT-2003-509073

Funded under: FP6-EURATOM

The aim of this workpackage is to teach students cell and tissue radiobiology, including
advances modules in radiation genetics, radiation effects in utero, biological basis of radiation
protection, fundamentals of epidemiology and medical statistics.
Teaching started at GCI on the 5th October. During the module students were informally tested
on course modules to give experience in answering essay style questions and to monitor progress and written English skills. All students were progressing satisfactorily with no concerns. There were no major changes in the timetable from previous years although some minor changes were made due to changes in the module schedules to accommodate the Nontargeted training course and lecture availability. A new development this year was to give students extensive training in presentation of research reports. Each student was given a previous report from an MSc research project, which they had to perform a critical review of and give this as a powerpoint presentation to the other students and scientists and lecturers from GCI.
