Final Report - MONA (Merging Optics and Nanotechnologies)

Project ID: 017255
Funded under: FP6-IST

Abstract

Microelectronics and photonics are two of the key enabling technologies for the markets of the 21st century. They are drivers for multi-billion industry sectors such as telecommunications, life sciences and information technologies by providing components and applications.

Funded under the European Commission's Sixth Framework Programme, the MONA project aimed to bridge the gap between nanophotonics and nanotechnologies at an industrial scale, a challenge of utmost strategic importance for the competitiveness of the European industry.

This final report provides a brief overview of the project's main objectives. As a Specific Support Action, MONA fostered collaborations between industrial stakeholders and future research activities. It concludes with the project's main outcome, a consolidated scenario (with a time horizon of 5-10 years), setting out development and technology road maps.
