Final Report - MiCMa^3 (Efficient Micromachining of Ceramic Materials in free formed, accurate and reliable shapes)

Abstract

The MICMA^3 project, which was funded under the European Community's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), aimed to improve the current manufacturing process chain of ceramics to respond flexibly and cost-effectively to the increasing demand of advanced micro-scale applications. These documents are attached to the project final report and illustrate MICMA^3 progress and achievements. The first picture demonstrates a spiral groove thrust bearing surface that was milled using Electrical discharge machining (EDM), while the second focuses on a particular of this surface. Image three displays the surface topography of a micromilled zirconium oxide (ZrO2) sample. In addition, a particular of the cutting edge of a High speed machining (HSM) micro tool is presented in image four. Finally, an illustration of the project logo is provided.
