Abstract

Building successful transnational, multi-partner technology projects is a difficult and complex task. Experience has shown that in the majority of cases technological difficulties are outweighed by the problems of handling a group of partners from widely differing sectors and cultural backgrounds. There are many different ways of approaching this problem but one initiative which is proving successful is the use of moderated planning workshops

A moderated planning workshop is a structured meeting in which partners in a project can discuss and agree objectives, goals and responsibilities to create a plan for further action. Moderated planning workshops have been developed from the well known and proven "GOPP" or Goal Oriented Project Planning technique. The technique uses the services of a neutral moderator who will structure the workshop and its output. Workshops will normally last 2-3 days to fully cover all the work although this can be adapted to suit particular circumstances.

This leaflet gives an introduction to moderated planning workshops. More in depth information can be found in the follow-up guide, which can be found http://icadc.cordis.lu/fep-cgi/srchidadb?ACTION=D&SESSION=&RCN=1058&CALLER=DOCS_LIB.
