Periodic Report 1 - HEALTHATWORK (An inquiry into the health and safety at work; a European Union perspective)

The ultimate aim of the HEALTHATWORK project was to review current knowledge related to the economic impact of health at work, to assemble, organise, analyse and synthesise data from national projects and surveys, as well as recommend future actions for research and policy development.

The main outcomes of the project were to:
- use the Geographical information system (GIS) to map the incidence of accidents, illnesses and absenteeism, as well as other health and safety at work indicators;
- analyse the databases to explore the possibility of developing interaction models concerning investments on health and safety at work, job satisfaction, incidence of work accidents, illnesses and absenteeism;
- design an appropriate data collection protocol for the incidence of accidents, illnesses and absenteeism at work;
- provide information about the cost and the benefits of investing on the improvement of health and safety at work
- disseminate knowledge and develop new research proposals;
- introduce appropriate protocols for collecting additional data.
