Abstract

This is the final report for 'High temperature sensors' (HiTS). The objective of this project was to systematically investigate the effect of doping on the properties (ferroelectric, piezoelectric, dielectric, Curie point, electrical conductivity, thermal depoling and ageing) of candidate Aurivillius phase ceramics. Spark plasma sintering (SPS) was used to produce highly textured microstructures with enhanced piezoelectric coefficients using two step method.

In the area of materials and characterisation they looked at, Bismuth layer-structured ferroelectrics (BLFS) as well as B site doping. Later they looked at high temperature properties - thermal depoling and ageing and Spark Plasma Sintering-texturing ceramics.
