Project ID: 13654
Funded under: FP6-SOCIETY

Science shops are community-based research organisations that help meet the scientific needs of the local society. They are recognised as easily accessible intermediaries for groups of citizens and non-governmental organisations in their quest for scientific research.

Since the start of the International Science Shop Network 'Living Knowledge' in 2003 many initiatives have bloomed to start science shops in Europe. The EU-funded project 'Training and mentoring of Science Shops' (TRAMS) aimed to improve the skill level of these organisations by providing structured training and mentoring support.

This final report of the TRAMS project provides a brief overview of the innovative practices developed and implemented through a customised training programme toolbox with training material for existing science shops. Lastly, individual mentoring programmes with practical advice and support was prepared for new science shops.
