Final Report - ENPONA (Enhancement the Quality Participation at FP6 Projects in the Polymer Nanomaterials Field)

Project ID: 17494
Funded under: FP6-INCO

Abstract

ENPONA was a Specific Support Action under the specific unique Framework Programme (FP) Call destined to the 'Reinforcement of the competitiveness of the three candidate countries, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey'. The project was implemented to stimulate and facilitate the participation of the most promising polymer centre, namely Romania, in activities of Priority Thematic Areas and cross-actions of European Commission Framework Programmes (ECFPs). The major objective of the ENPONA project was to enhance the scientific and technological potential of National Research and Development Institute for Chemistry and Petrochemistry (Icechim) Polymer department.

During the execution of the project the Polymer department had to develop relevant activities in a coherent strategy to fulfill the following specific objectives:
- increase the possibility of the department to participate as a partner in ECFP projects by enhancing connections with research teams with similar interests: the objective was accomplished by rising international recognition of Icechim Polymer department to increase the chances to be selected as a partner in FP projects, by organising an intensive brokerage events activity, by organising an active programme with the aim of creating strong and effective links with interested complementary research centres and the planning of the FP strategy of the department;
- develop the human potential of department to participate in FP projects: the principal aim was to enlarge the department's research team with young researchers who would had the opportunity to be trained by bright scientists in the nanomaterial's field;
- develop the Research and technological development (RTD) potential of the Icechim Polymer department to become a better equipped partner for west European centres engaged in the nanostructure polymeric material field: the main aim was to upgrade the existing Science and technology (S&T) material basis.
