Final Report - FRESHLABEL (Integrated Approach to enable Traceability of the Cooling Chain of Fresh and Frozen Meat and Fish Products by means of Taylor-made Time/ Temperature Indicators)

Project ID: 12371
Funded under: FP6-SME

Abstract

This is a periodic final report for the project FRESHLABLE. Funded under the European Commission's Sixth Framework Programme, the report lists the objectives and achievements of the project. Specifically, the FRESHLABLE project looked into novel techniques to label and or package perishable food produce, such as fish, in a manner that will enhance food quality as well as safety.

The FRESHLABEL project has also developed a unique system of tailor made time / temperature indicators that reflects the full or partial temperature history of a food product to which it is attached. The report covers such aspects of market induction of the product – the various challenges it faces and the willingness of SME's to accept the system as well as the regulations and the legal challenges involved.
