Final Report - WATER WING POWER (Enabling renewable energy SMEs to develop submersible and cost-effective vertical axis turbines for energy exploitation in ultra low-head streams)

Project ID: 17941
Funded under: FP6-SME

Abstract

This is the final activity report of the WATERWINGPOWER project, led by Water Power Industries AS. The overall project objective is to develop an efficient, cost effective, free stream, vertical axis hydro power turbine. The research team managed to achieve significant levels of efficiency, while keeping energy cost at the lowest.

The document summarises the project's objectives, briefly describes how it was organised, refers to technical issues that hampered progress and concludes by pointing out the advantages of the technology and its possible market applications. The research team claims to have achieved the highest hydrodynamic efficiency and lowest relative energy cost available in the market.
