Final Report - SAFELUBE (Steam Power Generation Turbines)

Funded under: FP6-SME

Abstract

This is the full activity report of the SAFELUBE project. The project was carried out by a European consortium of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and research performers, led by Kelman Limited. Its objective was to develop a novel method of continuous on-line conditioning and safe management to enable the use of fire retardant lubricants in gas and steam power generation turbines, for the power generation sector.

The document summarises issues commonly faced with lubricants in the power generation industry and describes how they are addressed by SAFELUBE's innovative technology. It goes through how the project was structured into work packages and the experiments results. It has to be noted that the project was terminated prematurely by the European Commission. As such, development and results generated are still subject to intellectual property rights (IPR) protection and cannot be disseminated at their full extent.
