This is the final report of the SUSTAINABLE BRIDGES project. Funded under the European Community's Sixth Framework Programme, SUSTAINABLE BRIDGES aimed to develop cheaper rail transport by enabling bridges to be used by heavier freight traffic and faster passenger traffic.

The main objectives included the increasing the lives of existing bridges by up to 25 % by improving their enhance management, strengthening, and repair systems. All this will help to create and improved rail network system that will ultimately produce financial savings throughout Europe.

The report outlines the study of masonry arch bridges and existing monitoring techniques different types of railway bridges. Brief concluding remarks complete the report.
