Abstract

This is the final publishable report of the EU-funded SOLHYCARB project, which aimed to develop a innovative route for potentially cost-effective simultaneous hydrogen production and marketable carbon black (CB) nanomaterial synthesis by concentrated renewable solar energy.

The document firstly describes the project objectives and the technical and scientific challenges that were to be addressed. It then refers to the expected results and the project achievements over five distinct activities. The different solar reactors design, modelling, testing and qualification are presented, as well as the way of addressing product separation and process safety issues.

The document goes on with analysing the produced CB characteristics compared to the industrial material. It describes the proposed design and operational variables of an industrial solar plant, while it concludes with components necessary for future industrial uses of the project results.
