Final Report - CAESAR (Computer-Assisted Evaluation of industrial chemical Substances According to Regulations)

Project ID: 22674
Funded under: FP6-POLICIES

The European regulation on chemicals and their safe use established the utilisation of methods alternative to animal testing in order to collect all the required information for new products' commercialisation. The EU-funded CAESAR project aimed to develop freely available models for the prediction of the biological activities of chemicals in accordance to European requirements, which could serve for regulatory purposes.

This final activity report initially presents the project background and objectives and the selected endpoints. It then analyses the employed methodologies and refers to activities regarding knowledge dissemination. Experimental results are also presented and the models' validity is compared with the state-of-the-art. Finally, the anticipated impact on industry and research is commented and proposals for further development are stated.
