Final Report - IMMUNOLEGIO (Rapid biotechniques based on immunosensors for in situ detection of legionella in industrial and environmental water samples)

Funded under: FP6-SME

Abstract

The EU-funded IMMUNOLEGIO project aimed to improve efficiency of legionella bacteria detection, both in natural and manmade water systems, through the development of a method with high sensitivity and short detection time. IMMUNOLEGIO increased the water monitoring sector efficiency, improved public health and safety and produced innovative outcomes in the area of biosensors.

This final activity report presents the project technical and scientific objectives and provides an overview of its major achievements. The problems that occurred during the concept development are analysed, along with the undertaken corrective actions. The document also refers to the construction, testing and evaluation of the system components and to the proposal's validation at a laboratory scale. Finally, the knowledge management and dissemination activities are highlighted.
