Abstract

This is the final report of the HEATTOP project, which aimed to address the need for improved instrumentation to be used in development, design evaluation and performance monitoring of aero-engines and industrial gas turbines for power generation. The objective of the HEATTOP project was to develop accurate high temperature sensors for measurement of pressure, temperature and tip clearances.

The document is structured in sections containing: the 'executive summary', explaining the structure and contents of the document and providing an abstract of the report, the project objectives, where also the HEATTOP consortium and its structure are presented and the development approach is shown, the performed work, methods and approaches, an overview of the 'publishable results', a list of the dissemination activities and finally a summary of the HEATTOP achievements and recommendations for post-HEATTOP and future R&D activities.

The HEATTOP project developed sensors and probes which are critical for efficient, economic, reliable and environmentally friendly operation of gas turbines in aero engines and in stationary power generation facilities.
