Final Report - INMOSION (Science shop for innovative mobility solutions for mobility challenged Europeans)

Project ID: 44645
Funded under: FP6-SOCIETY

This is the final report of INMOSION project, which analysed the needs of older Europeans both in rural and urban environments, designed and developed a paratransit system that combines algorithms and GIS databases to compute the optimum mobility solutions for both passengers and system operators. The main objective of INMOSION has been the development of all the necessary knowhow for effectively supporting any European community to deploy a paratransit system to meet the mobility needs of their citizens (elder or in need). The system was deployed on one location - Municipality of Philippi, Greece - and the results were disseminated through workshops on site, through the project's web, as well as through conference presentations and publications.

The report begins with a description of the current status in elderly people transport, the problems encountered and the solutions adopted in Europe. It later presents the objectives of the INMOSION project as defined to address the problem, using a paratransit system. The document later explains the methodologies and approaches employed and, then, refers to the achievements of the project and its expected impact on the scientific, industrial and commercial sectors. Finally, there is reference to the dissemination actions and plans and then a presentation of publications produced within the scope of the project.
