Abstract

This is the final report of the FCANODE project, which aimed to develop proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) anode catalysts of reduced cost and competitive performance to the current state-of-the-art Pt and PtRu catalysts. The novelty of this project has been the full development of novel catalyst nanoparticles for fuel cell applications from theoretical design to the final operating membrane electrode assembly. For the first time, theoretical studies have been associated to experimental studies for the development of novel catalyst nanoparticles for fuel cell applications.

The report briefly mentions the main objective of the project and then explains the innovation within its scope. It later describes the course of the experiments and explains the results obtained. Finally, there is a comment on the systems examined and their performance, before ending with brief conclusions on the project's impact and success assessment.
