Final Report - NETWASH (In-situ net cleaning system in aquaculture)

Project ID: 32788
Funded under: FP6-SME

Abstract

The EU-funded NETWASH project aimed to design a cost-effective, easily applicable and remotely operated net cleaning device for fish farming applications. The developed proposal did not require the use of chemicals or divers and therefore increased the environmental and economic sustainability of the aquaculture sector while it reduced health and safety risks for the involved personnel.

This final activity report analyses net fouling multiple impacts and justifies the necessity for remotely controlled net maintenance. It then refers to the project key objectives and technical specifications. Moreover, the attained progress regarding prototype development, testing and evaluation is presented. Finally, the document summarises the produced deliverables and closes with the description of knowledge dissemination and consortium coordination activities.
