Final Report - POLYVER (Production of polyhydroxyalkanoates from olive oil mills wastewater)

Project ID: 32967
Funded under: FP6-SME

The POLYVER project, funded under the European Community's Sixth Framework Programme, aimed to develop and implement an innovative technology able to permit the conversion of olive oil mills wastewater (OOMW) to a renewable source for biopolymers production. OOMW contained various toxic organic and inorganic compounds and required extensive treatment prior to its disposal; hence the potential of reducing pollutants load while producing a commercial product was highly innovative.

This final activity report contains information on the project objectives and analyses its specific partial targets. The goals, progress and achievements of the different undertaken activities are also summarised. Finally, the document presents the project outcomes and discusses alternative industrial applications of the developed technology.
