Final Report - CAMINAR (Catchment's management and mining impacts in arid and semi-arid South America)

Project ID: 32539
Funded under: FP6-INCO

Abstract

Arid and semi-arid ecosystems in South America cover a significant amount of its total surface. These areas are rapidly degrading nowadays, due to unsustainable management practices and human activities, such as mining.

The EU funded CAMINAR project aimed to develop policy recommendations, strategies and technologies for the sustainable management of mining-impacted catchments through the examination of selected case studies.

This final activity report provides an overview of CAMINAR objectives and utilised methodologies. Moreover, it summarises the project structure in work packages (WPs) along with the progress and results of each WP. The document also highlights the potential for knowledge exploitation in various levels and closes with a detailed presentation of the undertaken dissemination activities in the countries of interest and the international community.
