Final Report - CHEM-FREE (Development of a chemical-free water treatment system through integrating UV-C, ultra sound and fibre filters)

Funded under: FP6-SME

Abstract

The CHEM-FREE project, funded under the European Community's Sixth Framework Programme, aimed to integrate and optimise three existing water treatment options in order to create a single unit which would be capable of producing different water qualities, according to requirements, without the use of chemicals. The project examined treatment processes for both closed loop and through flow processes.

This final activity report provides an overview of CHEM-FREE objectives and major achievements. The different laboratory and field applications are described, along with evaluation of the results and perspectives for product commercialisation. In addition, the system limitations are summarised and suggestions for future optimisation are provided. Finally, the document closes with the management and dissemination activities undertaken by the consortium members.
