Abstract

The open long-term research scheme consists of first-phase projects assessing the risk and feasibility of the selected ideas, possibly followed by a second-phase project with intermediate evaluation and selection between the two phases. The final report guidelines are for use by consortia that have been awarded a contract for the first phase. According to the contract conditions they must submit to the Commission a final report (based on the project programme of the first phase project) describing the work carried out, the results, the deliverables and a summary appraisal of the first phase in sufficient detail as to allow its use as the main assessment item of the success of the project. (Part 1 of this document).

Consortia that consider their first phase project as successful and wish to apply for continuation under a second phase have to

- Meet the criteria for extension specified under "Conditions for extension into a second phase" in the open long term research projects - Task 4.1 booklet of the Information Package.
- Include in the final report a detailed description of the tasks that would be carried out in a possible second phase of the project (Part 2 of this document).
