Final Report - KASWARMI (Knowledge assessment on sustainable water resources Management for irrigation)

Project ID: 43513
Funded under: FP6-INCO

Abstract

Irrigation is globally the principal freshwater consumer, while agriculture downgrades the quality of water resources due to the extensive use of agrochemicals. Thus, research efforts should focus on more efficient, cleaner and integrated irrigation practices.

The KASWARMI project, funded by the European Community, focuses on Latin American irrigated areas and aims to contribute to improved management of water resources in arid and semi-arid ecosystems through the definition of future research priorities.

This final activity report provides an overview of the project objectives and principal achievements. The undertaken activities are analysed. Moreover, the document summarises KASWARMI results and defines the challenges that need to be addressed in the future. The report closes with a presentation of the applied dissemination strategy.
