Final Report - STREAM (Novel drilling system for cost effective extraction of the 30 million tons of ornamental stone blocks in Europe with lower environmental impact)

Funded under: FP6-SME

Abstract

This is the final activity report of the STREAM project, which was funded under the European Commission's Sixth Framework Programme (FP6). STREAM aimed to design, manufacture and test an innovative water hammer of small dimensions for mining and engineering applications. The hammer had prolonged working life, lower energy dissipation and reduced environmental impact compared to commercial alternatives.

The report firstly summarises the project objectives, activities and major achievements, which are presented with the aid of figures, photographs and tables. Furthermore, the targets and progress of different project components is analysed; thus information is presented regarding the product design, the applied methods and the performed evaluation tests. Finally, an overview of the knowledge dissemination strategy and the product commercialisation plan is provided.
