Final Report - FINE (Fisheries-induced Evolution)

Project ID: 44276
Funded under: FP6-POLICIES

Abstract

Fishing is a dominant source of mortality for fish stocks that decreases the abundance of animals and modifies their genetic composition. The FINE project, funded under the European Commission's Sixth Framework Programme (FP6), aimed to prove the existence and investigate the consequences of these evolutionary changes, as well as to develop practical management options.

This final activity report analyses the project objectives and highlights the principal research findings. In addition, the methodologies and approaches that were implemented within the project work packages are briefly described. The document also contains information on FINE outcomes and correlates them with the produced documentation. Finally, a detailed overview of the progress which was attained by the various activities is provided.
